As part of Cient’s engineering team, you’ll have end-to-end ownership over projects that push the frontier of AI evaluation. This is not a narrow role.
One week you might prototype a new RL environment from a research paper, the next you’ll be deploying distributed experiments on Kubernetes, and the week after you’ll be improving the reliability of our Next.js dashboards or building a Kafka pipeline for annotator analytics.
What You’ll Do
Design and build scalable systems: RL environments, APIs, and human-in-the-loop platforms.
Collaborate across research, product, and design to ship features quickly.
Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to documentation.
Participate in code reviews and design discussions
Solve real-world scalability and reliability challenges.
Contribute to the core infrastructure powering data and evaluation for leading AI labs.
Salary Range: The budgeted salary range for this position is $180K - $220K. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, education, and other relevant factors. Other benefits included e.g. Health Insurance, 401k etc.

Qualifications:
1 - 3 years of experience as a fullstack SWE
Fullstack capability: Next.js/React, Node.js/Python, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch
Experience building something end-to-end with a bias towards ownership
Ability to be "client facing" with AI lab researchers
Location: 100% in-office at our FiDi (SF) location, Monday through Friday.
Flexibility: We offer flexible daily start and end times to suit your preference, provided that total hours align with California’s standard 8-hour workday and 40-hour workweek.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from an accredited four-year university. Demonstrated track record of academic excellence or rigorous coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at human data AI company
Experience at S-tier VC-backed startup, reputable trading firm, or founding engineer at company that has raised $2.5M+.
